Spent less than 20 bucks on "back to school". Crayons, pencils, colored pencils, scissors, etc. all at Big Lots for 25 - 40 cents each. Socks, underwear at the big bad T. New underwear for me (because I grew out of the skinny-sick underwear I bought last fall). I might get M. a couple of pairs of sweatpants since the old ones are ratty. He has jeans, shorts, shirts aplenty. Really the underwear was not necessary, but he's been wearing the same size since he was three, so, time for a change. Old backpack and lunchbox are in fine condition.
Maybe some shoes. He might like the light-up kind.
If we see any "cool tshirts" he can have one... I long to dress him up on monday but it might be impossible.
More comic-book biographies obtained at the library. I couldn't pull his nose out of the first one he opened. Just now walking into the house: "Did you know that Clara Barton was a girl, and, because it was a long time ago, she couldn't get a job, but she invented this thing called the red cross that helped a lot of people, and she was in battles. I think I like her."
Oh, yay!
yeah, don't enlighten him about the presnt-day red cross yet, though, i don't think. after all, WE only learned last year and i'm not over THAT yet. :)

Oh! The biographies! My dad had a set, bound in orange, that I loved. I think it was called something like "Young Americans" -- I particularly remember Alexander Hamilton for some reason. I also loved the Classics Illustrated -- I particularly remember Tale of Two Cities.

I loved all those biographies and the whole biography section. Harriet Tubman was another one of my favorites when I was his age. Maybe Milo will think she's cool, too.
