Still no cat. It's been hours. I'm sitting out on the curb with my phone in my pocket. Moomin is "guarding" the back yard... he told me (crying) - "I'll never sleep again"....

laura Q

my advice: he has probably not gone very far at all, especially if he never gets out & this is a new experience. i would go to locations around the house & sit there very patiently for a while periodically calling his name or making sounds he likes (catfood, whatever) -- "mitzi myow, mitzi mitzi myow" is one he may know from kittenhood (or maybe you use it too?). listen closely for any sounds. give it half an hour & then go to another location also near the house.

when hannah was lost i found her about 7 doors down, after 4 days. based on reports from the neighbors it seems like she was a door or two away a day or two after she got out; and just staying & hiding very scared & nervous.

Oh shit, I'm so sorry... that totally sucks. I hope Hotspur shows up soon. I'm sure he didn't go far, and he'll wander by at any moment. He's probably just under the house or nearby. The one time this happened to me, my cat was in the back yard the whole time. Fingers crossed!

I was going to make a trip to that neck of the woods anyway -- if you have my number handy and still need some help, call me and tell me where you live. I'll bring my cat rescue kit (jingly things and treats, basically).

I used to have this often when I lived in town .. they inevitably hid during daylight and then came out and wandered around as soon as it got dark and quiet. I found all my cats by staying up and looking for them after midnight.

i feel like when i come in the house i am giving up... and I don't want to do that. so, am camping out on the curb with a hat and sunscreen and water. more flyers in small batches. moomin is calm in the hammock the last hour or so. I told him it would be okay and i would not give up looking till we found him. Then I think y'all are right that he'll come out after dark but then what if I'm just saying that to myself so i can come in out of the sun?

I am pretty sure he is under the porch of the house next door but can't see very far in there even with a flashlight. So, the best strategy seems to be to sit on the curb where I can see most of 4 front yards, maximal area, and just watch.

I'm so sorry! I hope he shows up soon! My cell phone is out, but you're welcome here anytime once he does come back.

badgerbag

Blah. Still no cat. Madeline I'm going to miss your party ... can't just leave ...

Have you called local radio stations to get them to make annoucements? I found one of my cats that way once. I am sure he'll be home soon.
