I was staring at this spanish word and suddenly thought, "Oh! it's "vellosity"!" And I know what vellosity and vellous mean. How come I can't find them in any dictionary? "Vellus" is in a few. (Vellus is the fine downy hair. Vellous means the quality of being fine and downy and hairy. In other words... sparsely fuzzy.) So... my question at this point is why did I know this word in the first place? Often the random things crammed into my head make me wonder, but this one takes the cake. I'm boggled.
vellus? prolly from printing, vellum, like that.

"Arms that are braceleted and white and bare
[But in the lamplight, downed with light brown hair!]"
