You know how they tell you in survival books not to drink alcohol when you're freezing to death, because you'll freeze to death faster? So, isn't it logical that I should have a beer right now to cool myself down?

Good lord! 109 would beat anything I remember experiencing even in Texas.
Say, did you once live in Seneca House? If so, Sarah Bird has a novel out based on her time there called Alamo House. May or may not be worth reading -- here's a negative review.
