It helped that the urologist said he was sorry about last night and that in retrospect he wishes he had stayed to do the catheter himself (i guess he had delegated it) but that he thought the swelling wasn't so bad and it would be an easy thing. And... it totally wasn't. I learned the word "phimosis"... He said to please tell Rook he apologizes, and he's going to be checking in with us regularly today and tonight.
A true apology really is powerful. I've heard that doctors are actually instructed not to apologize, for fear of strengthening malpractice cases, which is such a dumb move when it's so likely to ameliorate things.
Glad Moomin's doc wasn't/isn't like that.

rook is such a gentle man, i can just imagine he's going spare, since he doesn't seem the sort to erupt and take a swing at anybody to relieve his own agita.
