And then I leaped up from bed and ran outside while putting on a shirt -- to see the guys across the street drunkenly setting off "bumblebees" in the street. They'd rotate whizzily with a terrific noise, spitting red and green, rise up in the air like plate-sized UFOs, then gently settle back to the center of the street.

I ran back in to get a blanket & settled down on the tailgate of my truck to watch the fun.

The cactus flowers 2 houses down and across the street are blooming in full force. It's like a green spikey wall with explosions.
