Last night I went to bed with my knee messed up and woke up with it still feeling very strange. It is spasming on the opposite side to where it usually has trouble. The outer side of my left kneecap is doing something so painful that I'm staggering around like a drunk. I don't know what I did to mess it up!
Halfway because I figured walking "through" the pain would work out the kinks... and halfway because I thought it would be too pathetic... I did not pull out the crutches or cane. Could not bear the thought of people thinking I was a stress-addled hypochondriac or angling for pity. I would rather limp and be in pain. And if I walk slow enough the limp is not so bad. I have the cane in my truck, always, "just in case" but in reality I have too much stubbornness to use it unless my leg absolutely collapses under me.
THIS SUCKS... my body has been so healthy and I have taken such care! Why today?! Right when I have to run all over campus to 4 different offices!
Liz,
I have that pain fairly regularly, or a similar one. In my case it's a tight band of connective tissue that runs from the hip down and below the knee. The pain can be helped some by lying on (in your case) your right side on a bench/bed/table facing away from the edge. Then drop your top(left) leg back over the edge. Yeah, mine doesn't even drop even with table.
Don't know what your normal ortho problem is to know if it could be impacting this.
