I'm sorry punkin, but those snide moms? Bitches. All of 'em. Let me at 'em. I'll wear my power scarf.

no, you're doin great, badger, you really are. and eliz so clearly adores you. it's all so important and you've got that stuff more than covered.

if you "had your wits about you," as you say, just now you'd hafta be an automaton! not. after all, it could have been in the other direction, not that you were too early! YUK! you are fine.

you, young women! please, please, cut yourselves some slack, you are terrific!

(fuck the fishy moms...)

elswhere

Glad Eliz was okay. Whew!

You know, whenever you write about how truly nasty other moms are you, even cutting you dead when you say hi, it makes me so pissed off for you. Though I'm queer and S has 2 moms etc, I look very conventional and have almost never gotten that stuff (or maybe I'm just really dense and unobservant).

I wonder, if they heard about the incident as if they weren't in it, would they be as horrified as I am? Do they not recognize how incredibly rude and horrid they're being?

Then I wonder: Who have I been rude to like that, and not even noticed?

It really makes me laugh, it's no big deal! Most people are nice. Like all the Iron Gate mamas at Squid's house the other day - all super friendly! Anyway it gives me a reason to snark at the snobs. It's like being carded when I buy spray paint, or followed by mall cops; sort of an honor.

Next time someone acts like that over at Gold Star Academy, I'm going to be like, "Yeah, you can help me. You wanna buy some crack? I'm selling!" Then I'll moon her.

elswhere

You get carded? That IS an honor. Man. I haven't gotten carded for maybe decades. People ask if I'm Mermaid Girl's grandma. Hey, I'm not *that* old!

It used to happen to me at my children's London school but only ..I hate to say .. after it got colonised by American bankers' wives. I have ordinary hair and look in no way provocative apart from my lack of the then obligatory designer tracksuit pick-up wear. I put it down to their husbands working in such vilely competitive worlds that everything about their wives was also scrutinised. So that they were terrified of 'losing points' by being allied in any way with anyone who didn't look useful.I think I said before how I was standing chatting with my daughter's best friend's mother when her husband lent in from the other side and hissed, not softly, in her ear 'Why are you bothering to talk to that woman?'.
