Squeal! I'm driving up elsewhere's street! Elsewhere walks around here all the time... I'm totally in someone else's novel! What a cozy porch. And the house, just like my house, and my friends' houses, with Stuff all over, very homey, a comfortable jumble, and bins. I admire the signs and labels very much! Books, books, books everywhere. I'm stuck with my head sideways going Uh-HUH, so that's it! THAT explains it. My goodness but our bookshelves intersect. And then the places they don't, I want to poke around.
I could happily just park myself here and read for several weeks and never leave the house.
I hope if they ever come to visit they also feel so much at home... They've left us little sticky notes everywhere.
I forgot about the wireless timer! Lisa and I have reminded each other that the internet will still be there in the morning...
Ahhhh. A hot bath. They use my same kinds of shampoo. I used a guest towel from the bin marked "guest towels". I have slightly purpled that towel. And when I laid down, my god! right in my face - the Tall Book of Makebelieve, one of my very favorite books on the planet. In fact that would be my first "entry point" to sf. I loved it so much when I was tiny... my grandma and mom would read it it to me... and then to Minnie... and when I was about 25 I saw it at a flea market and bought it for a ridiculous amount, maybe 40 bucks, but I was desperate to have it and almost burst into tears with happiness...
Baggy the cat slept on me.
Well, anyway, bless them for their lovely home and their thoughtful post-it notes...
"I'm totally in someone else's novel! "
this is *exactly* how i felt last weekend! not so much you and grace, etc. but with the "secondary" characters, like rook and moomin and george baby bubbles and anybody i read *about* instead of read, for instance, they just walked off the page, y'know?
hey, this house in florida is here. of course it has me in it, but it's very strange and always open.

I always thought that elsewhere lived in SF and you met her around all the time. How idiotic of me. I suppose she actually spends all her time with SJ and Joshua.

For some strange reason it makes me so happy knowing you are here in Seattle. Hope to see you wandering around the city somewhere. Hope the mountains come out. Enjoy!

Iris, Josh is now in Cardiff. You should go visit him.
Badger, I am jealous that you got to stay with Elsewhere and co. Isn't Mermaid Girl the most fabulous kid that is not ours, ever?

Badger, you are staying where I stay when I visit elswhere! The first time I was there after Mermaid Girl's birth I was wearing a nightgown that had a lot of static electricity, and the post-it notes in the kitchen jumped off the doors onto me. It was such fun walking around labeled "Canned Goods," "Dishes," and "Pots and Pans." The next day I scotch-taped the notes to the doors to make them behave themselves. Now that MG can read, I'll remove the scotch tape next time.

I'm in their house, but they're not there, squid!

Dude, if you wanted to stay in an empty Seattle house you should have stayed at Seymour's parents' place.

Sounds like you are having a grand time.
Enjoy yourself!!

Have fun! I wish Moot and I had gotten it together to get ourselves to Seattle -- I think we could have managed it, but given that we didn't have the energy to plan it, it might have been too much for us. Anyway, I look forward to a full report on the proceedings.

Oh I'm so happy you're having a good time! That's just how I feel when I'm housesitting for someone I like...I put the Tall Book there on purpose when I was organizing the other day & hoped you would see it! Also Linnets & Valerians, and...oh you must come back some time! When I'm there! & bring Moomin, maybe!
Oh and RW made the labels. She's very good at that!
And Lisa is great! She & RW chatted & chatted the other day about early music etc.

Badger!
You guys (elsewhere, squid, jo, grace, everybody) have to do LibraryThing! You can virtually geek out at everyone else's bookshelves. And you don't even have to tilt your neck. Have you checked it out yet? It's like flickr for books.
