DAmn, no doubt. I am totally with you, I am. What a bunch of total fucktards. I can hardly stand it sometimes. Stupidity! All for the sake of what? A couple of million dollars for somebody who doesn't need it? When a couple of million dollars to a large group of people who live on 10k or less a year for a family of four would make such an immense difference. Social justice is the central issue of our day.

Jo

And I don't understand about the whole daycare issue. Why couldn't their nannies just take care of them?

Heh

badgerbag

Or why couldn't they just drive their kids to the rec center daycares that Atlanta set up for them? That's what fox news said they were supposed to do. Somehow, hundreds of thousands of people driving their kids to a makeshift daycare (??) is less gas-wasteful than school buses taking the kids to school.

JM

A friend of mine who lives in ATL was discussing this on his blog: http://dmorgen.blogspot.com/2005/09/georgia-prepares-for-rita-by.html

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

The problem is that many of the solutions people are proposing are long-term solutions (tighter fuel-efficiency standards, better public transport, etc.), and clearly all our government can do is react in the short term -- badly!

P.S. I didn't know Suzy had a livejournal!

This was on the radio the other day and I thought it was THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER HEARD. So dumb, apparently, that I'm driven to capital letters.

badgerbag

As long as you don't take the bus to capital letters, somehow it won't waste gas.
