It strikes me as not a coincidence, media fuss about L. P3terson as host-body for a fetus, the fuss being because she was pregnant, not because she was killed; the media fuss about T. Sch1avo and who controls her body - parents, or husband? "Public opinion" manipulated to hide that who really has control over women's bodies (those useful things, both unpaid workers and sites of production) is not sentiment but nations and states...
Think for a bit about the meaning of this hoo-ha and how it's centering around women who can't speak up for themselves and who fundamentally AREN'T THERE, who aren't human. Massive over-concern for their plight shows up how no one cares about women who are actually alive, and what injustices or problems they face. For there to be this media blowout is a sleight of hand trick.
I could go on about the tsunami and how the govt. and media and everyone all together are so comfy with the idea that "we" help people when the cause of suffering is natural disaster but "we" don't care about other suffering, other deaths, other poverty. Who is NOT to blame is the point here - another instance of global misdirection and sleight of hand.
Found you via the recently updated blogs feature on Typepad. What an interesting perspective. I had never put those thoughts together, but I think you are spot on. This is the realization of a paternal system, however only concerned with women after the fact.
