That was a somewhat bleak place I arrived at last night in a long day of being unable to stop thinking about a million things at once and connecting them all.
The morning, fresh, with house finches perching in the tree to eat its berries (that tree that makes me sneeze) and flitting about in the potato-vines. (By the way, I turned in the forms to get rid of the tree so tree removal and replacement will happen soon, once they send me a permit.)
I hope it quits raining today. I need to fix the brick path and mow the lawn for Moomin's party. And check the back courtyard for weeds and clean out any cat poop that's back there so it doesn't smell nasty...
We had fun last night (though we missed Pilot, Peanut and Acrobat, who must have fallen asleep or something). The Millen1um Dollhouse was a hit. Rook has not let me put the batteries in it... no matter how annoying the toy-noise can be, I am curious to hear the hyperspace and fly-by effects. The other big hit was the very cheap mechanical sparking space-pistols: no batteries or anything, you pull the trigger and sparks fly around in the middle of the clear, tough plastic and there's a whirly metal noise. We will be running around the house shooting Bad Guys and Imperial Storm Troopers for months...
Needed for party: a lot of cardboard. red fabric (the lava). a long 2 x 4 beam for the bridge over the hot lava. costume jewelry, mardigras beads and the like (if I can get it for free) for dragon-treasure!
I am slightly worried that i don't have enough swords for the party favors... it's unclear how many kids are coming!
The more I stare out the lovely front window at the rain-greyness and the vivid colors of the flowers the more I want to chuck writing for today and go work in the yard. A lot needs to be done because we did almost no maintenance over the rainy season.
