The Suburbs

We love you too, though you make us uneasy with your boots and legwarmers.

GarGyrrl

May I borrow your lawnmower?

No, really, I'm serious. My lawnmower blew up and my neighbors are about to lynch me for growing the lone jungle on my street.

:-P

badgerbag

sure -- i have the fancy electric one which I want to sell and also the pushmower which I got free and it's totally fabulous! borrow either one

whump

The Suburbs afraid of leg-warmers and boots? I remember back in the 1980's when the Suburbs saw Flashdance and bought them by the truck load. Bah, the Suburbs have such a short memory. I bet they forgot that George Santyana button they bought from Nancy Liebowitz's booth at the 1990 WorldCon.

minnie

there are many such sparkely patches in that area. when i used to walk home late at night i would pretend that those were magic squares in which no one could mug me. hahaha.

badgerbag

I was imagining hopping around on them like in that one cheesy short story (? novel? in the dome city?) where the kids have to hop from square to square and sing their jumprope rhyme and it lets them escape from the horrible dome and it turns out the planet outside is okay again after all, the evil bad radiation has all stopped radiating and there's flowers everywhere or whatever. What was that story?

Prentiss Riddle

All I've got to say is, whatever you do, don't get your lawnmowers and your legwarmers mixed up.

Iris

I was desperate to read the Picts and the Martyrs last week and looked all over the house for it but couldn't find it.Do we have some pointless level of telepathy? Winter Holiday is my real favourite, though.
