Jo

Apparently apes fuck each other all the time, too. Constantly. Males, females, children. Sorry about the google hits, dude. Though I guess you don't check those? You're not addicted to that part of blogging, I take it.

Red martin today?

Mark

Oh my God, I totally know who did Bruisy. It was Stephanie Kulick, who also did a little piece of genius, a little comic called Hey Stranger.

Sad to say, Stephanie is no longer on this earth. I have a little tribute page to her on my site.

Prentiss Riddle

Some folks in Austin put together a labor of love called the Austin Zine Library that could well have your Vanilla Milkshake in it as well as the complete works of Stephanie Kulick.

I recall reading something shortly after it started up about how there were hundreds of volunteer hours in the thing and when it finally opened for business -- surprise -- nobody showed up to read the zines.

I hope that's changed now, or if not, then before the effort collapses on itself somebody gets the HRC at UT to accept it all.

I never did hear what happened to Mike Gunderloy's Factsheet Five archives. That guy collected the entirety of 80's underground lit. He sold the zine and then it changed hands a couple more times before going under. He assured everyone that the archives were safe but last I heard hadn't released any specifics.

oh, god. I know I have Hey Stranger but my giant zine collection is very disorganized! It is one of my ambitions to make it all nice and catalogue it. I also have boxes and boxes of interesting mail that I got from people (mostly through Action Girl Newsletter) with stickered mail-art envelopes and things like that.

I'm so sorry Stephanie Kulick is dead - she was a fabulous genius!

Wow now I'm on fire to know what happened to M.G.'s archives.

Prentiss Riddle

Mike Gunderloy is still around and has a personal site and a tech blog, but his statement about Factsheet Five says that after having a nervous breakdown and selling out he "has steadfastly refused to discuss the small press". Seth Friedman, who did revive FF to its former glory for several years in the 90s, may know the scoop if you can track him down.
