Wow. What an excellent birthday you laid on. Something like that for a child, immediately exciting and also when they grow up, such a great memory of how much their Mum did for them with love, is priceless.
I know that sounds trite and cliched, but reading it made me compare it with the loving crafty magic birthdays my big sis used to lay on for my twin and me. And how much they mean to me in retrospect.

(I feel like I ought to go back and join this narrative at an earlier date, I like your style but of course I am going "Moomin?" "Rook?" :P )
