Cheered up

Rook, and whump, and ide, and coalescent, and Debbie all cheered me up today. What a crappy day!  I expected some of it, but the reality of a couple of hundred people calling me a moron was way nastier than I thought it would be.  I'm not used to it. I don't even have trolls on this site! Thank god!   Anyway, I better toughen up quick.

I was also cheered greatly by reading a brilliant short story by Ted Chiang: "Hell is the Absence of God".  It was in an equally fabulous anthology, Starlight 3

That's one's an awesome story!

Man, you are *so* the opposite of a moron. I don't know how you keep up your energy level, but it must be because your brain has so much it needs to do! You're translating and parenting and writing and learning and playing... always doing something interesting.

They just don't get it is all.

Also, thank you for all of the interesting links to stuff!

Feh. I got tied up at work yesterday, and went to a vigil for a friend's dad last night, and came home to all the sh*tstorm. As Marta said, you are so *not* a moron; it's a pity that some folks out there are so in love with snark that they forget that there are people reading those words. I need to go grab my books by Pema Chodron and re-read the bits about mindfulness.

Where the fuck were people calling you a moron?!

Debbie was extremely helpful to me yesterday, so we are as one about her excellence!

amazing to me how so many people got so defensive over nothing. one of the blogs you posted to, that guy is just too much -- he's all, "i'm a big reviewer and you have to listen to me," but he's actually among the worst flame-warriors out there!

anyway -- it was about a half dozen at most, with a few me-too-ers. i know for a fact my opinion is worth all of theirs according to any objective standard & i think you're brilliant.

plus every rad feminist needs wacky off-the-wall criticism to enhance her street cred.
